Fade In:

NARRATOR
Well, I usually like to think that what I do is going to make a difference to me if nobody else. It would be nice to influence others ... thats what artists attempt to do ... find an audience ... hence the need to find yet another medium to get the message out there .... However, at the end of the day all I am trying to say is .... I exist ... and it will be such a shame to have gone through life and not at least made an effort to poke my face above the parapet.
So here we have .... CUT TO:

INT. PINEWOOD STUDIOS - EVENING
The DIRECTOR (that's me!) sits at his desk wondering how to get his next film financed.

DIRECTOR
Shit! This is doing my head in. Why can't I get this together. We have the script (sort of), half the cast (including ther leads), the music worked out, the locations etc. We even have the contracts to discount at the bank.

Director switiches off his computer and sits back and dreams of better times ... the squandering of millions on frivolous films that others think the money has been wasted on.

DIRECTOR V.O
Perhaps I should go back to writing novels. Naw, there's no money in that. Three to six months knocking out three thousand words a day ... for what?? What a waste of everybody's time.

The Director sinks into his black leather office sofa. He looks up at ......

A film poster - GONE TO HELL .....

He winces ... turns .... moans

DIRECTOR
For God's sake what have I done with my life?

He picks up a copy of Screen International ...... looks at it .... throws it down in disgust.

DIRECTOR V.O
What a rag! The journalists are in he pockets of the studios!

NARRATOR
Disillusioned by the system, the Director contemplated his options. They had never sent the limos for him and there seemed no likelyhood of the limos ever being sent. What did it take for the limo to be sent ... he just didn't know ... although he had a good idea of what he might have to do to get one ... pay for it himself one way or another ... give a script away for nothing ... give two scripts away for nothing ... or better still, have three of his scripts stolen by Hollywood companies who knew he was good, but just didn't think he was cool, American, or had right faith in the wrong kind of system.
